Labiaplasty is a genital aesthetic operation performed to reduce, reshape and give an aesthetic appearance to the inner “lips of the vulva labia minora. Sexual activity, the natural aging process, menopause, weight loss, and multiple childbirths can cause the labia minora to sag. This can often cause women to experience discomfort, pain during sexual activity, have difficulty wearing certain types of clothing, and feel uncomfortable while walking, exercising, and doing daily physical activity.
Who can undergo Labiaplasty?
All women the age of 18 and over who are not satisfied with the appearance of the inner lips of the vulva can undergo labiaplasty.
How is Labiaplasty done?
Labiaplasty can be done with trim and wedge techniques. Which technique will be applied is decided after the vaginal examination. Labiaplasty is usually performed in an outpatient surgical facility and takes approximately 45 minutes. The procedure is done under sedation. After the procedure, the patient stays in the recovery room for about an hour under the supervision of a doctor and then discharged.
Recovery
Generally, patients can return to work one day after the operation. The full recovery period takes about four weeks. The labial incisions heal quickly. Since the stitches are fusible, there is no need to remove them. It is not recommended to do heavy exercise and vaginal intercourse for the first 4 weeks. The genital area should be kept dry and the patient should be very careful about hygiene. Activities that moisten the genital area should be avoided for at least 4 weeks.
Labiaplasty should be performed by experienced gynecologists and plastic surgeons. Dr. Emre Pabuçcu has 12 years of experience in aesthetic genital surgery and successfully performs over 400 labioplasty annually.
