The microchip is an assisted method used to distinguish sperm with better morphology, genetic quality from damaged, broken, dead or undeveloped sperm. In the classical sperm selection process, the semen sample is usually centrifuged so that the sperm cells can be separated from the fluid. the centrifuge is a high-speed (1,500-2,000 revolutions per minute) rotation device that uses centrifugal force to separate sperm from the liquid. While this separation is done by centrifugation technique, sperm can be damaged, and as a result, damaged sperm can cause embryo development arrest and IVF failure. With the microchip method, healthy and high-quality sperms can be separated from the damaged sperms formed during the centrifugation process.
